Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 2026

Our Core Privacy Promise

We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal health data on our servers. Swicko & Souro is engineered to process your translation goals (such as monitoring Potassium or Phosphorus) strictly on your own device. Your dietary habits are yours alone.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Because of our strict local-only data philosophy, the information we collect is extremely limited.

A. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

When you use our website (such as the Scanner Tool), your preferences (e.g., "Watch Potassium" or "Dialysis Mode"), user interface settings (like Dark Mode and Swicko Radio preferences), and your translation history are saved directly to your web browser using HTML5 localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your browser cache and cookies.

B. Automatically Collected Information

Like almost all websites, our servers automatically collect basic diagnostic and usage data when you access or use the site. This log data may include:

  • Your IP address (anonymized where required by law)
  • Device information and browser type
  • Pages viewed and usage timestamps

This information is purely for system administration and ensuring the website loads correctly on your device.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

We process the minimal data we receive solely to:

  • Deliver our Service: Ensuring the web pages load and function securely on your browser.
  • Identify Usage Trends: To see which articles in our Blog or Recipe Vault are the most helpful for our community without tracking individual identities.

3. Third-Party Services (The Scanner API)

Our Scanner tool utilizes external databases, primarily the Open Food Facts API, to retrieve nutrition information based on the barcodes you scan.

When you enter a barcode, that specific 12 or 13-digit number is sent to the Open Food Facts public database to retrieve the label data. We do not send your dietary goals, IP address, or any identifying information with these requests. It is simply an anonymous query for a public food product.

4. Children's Privacy

Swicko & Souro is specifically designed as a behavioral translation tool for adults, particularly seniors and their caregivers managing complex, adult-onset dietary restrictions. We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will delete such information from our records immediately.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy notice from time to time as our behavioral tools evolve. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this privacy notice frequently to be informed of how we protect Swicko's information.

6. Contact Us
